This Prelude, number 8, was dedicated to the great brazilian cellist Aldo Parisot.

The arrangement was commissioned by UFRN Cellos as a tribute to Parisot's 100th birthday.

One of the greatest Brazilian pianists, Oriano de Almeida (1921-2004) toured the world as a performer, having achieved special renown as a Chopin interpreter. In addition to being a finalist in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, he recorded the composer’s complete works and gained national fame by answering questions about him on a television quiz show in the 1950s. He crystallized his memories of Rio Grande do Norte in his 20 Prelúdios Potiguares, beautiful works of an unpretentious and folkloric character, written in Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, and Natal over almost half a century, from 1947 to 1982.
